OpenSats has received the first donation from Strive under its recurring monthly commitment to support the Red Team Fund.
Strive is a publicly traded finance company and institutional asset manager with bitcoin at the center of its strategy. In September, Strive announced its support for the Red Team Fund as part of its Bitcoin Stewardship Commitment, which also backs open-source Bitcoin development through Brink and public policy work through the Bitcoin Policy Institute.
The Red Team Fund was established to support security researchers working to find and responsibly disclose vulnerabilities in critical open-source Bitcoin software by reimbursing LLM token and infrastructure costs incurred in this work, giving researchers access to resources that can become expensive when running large scale security scans and testing.
OpenSats recently announced their first wave of grants from the Red Team Fund, supporting researchers using AI-assisted security scanning, fuzzing, differential testing, and other methods to examine open-source Bitcoin software for vulnerabilities.
Strive points to advances in AI that are making software vulnerabilities easier to discover and exploit. Supporting researchers with access to frontier models, compute, and other resources helps them use those tools to find and responsibly disclose vulnerabilities.
OpenSats would like to thank Strive for its commitment and continued monthly support of the Red Team Fund. Recurring donations provide a dependable source of funding for researchers doing this work and allow OpenSats to direct resources toward security efforts across the Bitcoin ecosystem.
If you would like to support developers and researchers red teaming critical open-source Bitcoin software, you can donate directly to the Red Team Fund with a one-time or recurring donation.
Experienced developers and security researchers working on red teaming Bitcoin software can also apply for funding through OpenSats.
